MLB Player Wilson Ramos Kidnapped in Venezuela
MLB player Wilson Ramos, a catcher for the Washington Nationals, was kidnapped Wednesday in his home country of Venezuela, according to reports.
Ramos, 24, was kidnapped by four gunmen from a family home in the town of Santa Ines, according to the Associated Press. The kidnappers have not yet contacted his family but officials in Venezuela say they have found the vehicle used to abduct Ramos.
Kidnappers have been known to target the families of wealthy athletes in Venezuela in the hopes of getting a ransom. Back in 2009, the 11-year-old son of Colorado Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba was kidnapped in Venezuela and rescued a day and a half later.
