Giuliana Rancic Has Breast Cancer

E! News host and reality star Giuliana Rancic revealed Monday that she has breast cancer.

The 36-year-old Giuliana and Bill star made the shocking announcement during an interview with Ann Curry on NBC's Today show.

Rancic, who has been trying to get pregnant, learned of her diagnosis while going through the preparation for IVF treatment.

"Through my attempt to get pregnant for the third time through IVF [in-vitro fertilization], we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer," she said.

"I wasn't prepared to get a mammogram until i was 40 years old," she admitted. "I never in my wildest dreams expected anything to be wrong."

Rancic says her doctor insisted she undergo a mammogram because the surge of hormones during pregnancy can accelerate cancer.

She says she'll undergo surgery this week and then have six weeks of radiation therapy.

Rancic said her husband Bill has been by her side throughout the ordeal.

"Bill is unbelievable. He lets me cry when I want to cry, he doesn't say, 'Hey, look at that person who's worse off than you are.' He just lets me feel what I'm feeling," she said.
