Pia Toscano Debut Single "The Time"

Talk about a blessing in disguise!
Pia Toscano, who made waves when she was eliminated from American Idol prematurely, has signed a recording deal with Interscope Records and her debut single "The Time" will be released digitally on July 12.
"I kind of got a head start, and I didn't realize that," says Toscano, who believes her early exit has given her an edge in getting her music out to fans.
The 22-year-old singer will perform her new single -- an acoustic guitar and beat-driven track by Ester Dean -- as part of her set on this summer's American Idols LIVE! tour.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family," Toscano says. "[Chairman] Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on Idol and I'm looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true."
Toscano, who became known on Idol as a power-ballad princess, describes her debut album as "a pop album with an R&B influence."
Her album will be released later this year.
