Daniel Radcliffe Reveals Alcohol Addiction

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has made a shocking revelation in a new interview with GQ U.K. that he had a secret addiction with alcohol.

The 22-year-old actor admits his drinking began while filming Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the sixth film in the series and he became "reliant" on it.

"I became so reliant on alcohol to enjoy stuff," he said. "There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person's lifestyle that really isn't suited to me."

Realizing he had a problem, Daniel gave up alcohol and started living the sober life since August 2010.

"I'm actually enjoying the fact I can have a relationship with my girlfriendwhere I'm really pleasant and I'm not f--king up totally all the time. There's no shame in enjoying the quiet life. And that's been the realization of the past few years for me."

He insists his new quiet lifestyle is here to stay. "As much as I would love to be a person that goes to parties and has a couple of drinks and has a nice time, that doesn't work for me. I'd just rather sit at home and read, or go out to dinner with someone, or talk to someone I love, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - the last instalment in the film franchise, hit theaters July 15.
