First Photos of Rep Gabrielle Giffords Released Since Shooting
The first photos of a smiling Rep. Gabrielle Giffords since she was shot in the head in a mass shooting in Tucson were released over the weekend.
The photos were posted on Giffords' Facebook page by her aides.
The decision to share the images was made by Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, who hope the photos will help Giffords avoid the glare of camera lenses when she attends outpatient therapy later this month.
The photographs were taken on May 17 in the hours at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital before Giffords' cranioplasty surgery.
Giffords is expected to be released from the hospital later this month.
