Maria Shriver on Oprah Final show

Hours after Arnold Schwarzenegger confessed to fathering an illegitimate child, his estranged wife Maria Shriver made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Shriver took the stage at Chicago's United Center Tuesday, alongside Gayle King before a crowd of 15,000 -- to celebrate the final episodes of Oprah's show.

"For more than 30 years you have bestowed upon me the most amazing friendship," Shriver said in a tribute to her close friend. "You have shown love, support, wisdom, and most of all," she said, with a big, pause, "the truth."

Oprah tightly squeezed her hand as the crowd bursted into applause.

"Over the years, you have shared that very generous spirit--you've believed in others, so they can believe in themselves."

Schwarzenegger publicly revealed the bombshell betrayal in a statement Tuesday. The revelation reportedly came after the mother of his love child threatened to go public with details of the steamy affair.

Late Tuesday, multiple outlets reported that the woman is 50-year-old housekeeper Mildred "Patty" Baena (see photos) who worked as the family's housekeeper for over 20 years.
