Olivia Wilde and her Italian prince husband Tao Ruspoli have separated after eight years of marriage, Wilde's rep confirms to People.

A source said, "They have been living apart after trying for quite some time to make their relationship work."

Wilde, 26, met Ruspoli, 35, when she was just 18 years old. The two eloped in Virginia six months after meeting.

Ruspoli, the son of late Italian Prince Dado Ruspoli, is an L.A.-based filmmaker and documentarian. His family owns the Palazzo Ruspoli in Rome and a castle in Vignanello, Italy.
