Just weeks after announcing their engagement, Shania Twain and her fiancé Frederic Thiebaud got married on New Year's Day in an intimate beach ceremony at a private mansion in Puerto Rico.

"They were married at sunset in Rincon, Puerto Rico, in front of 40 of their closest family and friends," the singer's rep said.

Frederic is the ex-hubby of Shania's former best friend, Marie-Anne Thiebaud, the woman Shania's husband Robert "Mutt" Lange allegedly had an affair with two years ago. Shania split from Lange in 2008 after nearly fifteen years of marriage.

Following the affair of their spouses, Shania, 45, and Frederic, 40, reached out to one another and became romantically involved.

"In the last two and a half years of adjusting to life after separation and divorce, I needed to lean on others more often than I was accustomed to. These people have been gifts, and I am fortunate to have so many of these beautiful people - friends, family and beloved fans, [whose] support I cherish more deeply with each day that passes," the country music star wrote on her website last month.

"Talking about love. I am excited to share some personal news with you; I'm in love! Frédéric Nicolas Thiébaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship."
