L'Oreal Heiress Sues Daughter For Abuse

Liliane Bettencourt, billionaire heiress of the L'Oreal cosmetics empire, has filed a lawsuit against her only daughter, accusing her of "abuse."

In her suit, France's richest woman, Liliane Bettencourt, 87, accused her daughter Francoise Meyers-Bettencourt of "psychological violence" for trying to have her declared mentally unsound.

Francoise Meyers-Bettencourt, 57, the daughter of the octogenarian, has tried three times to get a ruling that her mother is mentally unfit to look after her fortune.

The new lawsuit is the latest of a series of bitter family disputes between Ms. Bettencourt and her estranged daughter for three years. (Read more about their family feud at Reuters.)

According to Forbes magazine, the heiress' fortune is estimated at $20 billion. The L'Oreal cosmetics company was founded by Liliane Bettencourt's father.
