Catherine Herridge Alleges Discrimination, Feds Sue Fox News

Federal authorities are suing the Fox News Network for allegedly retaliating against a reporter Catherine Herridge, who says she was discriminated against because of her age and gender.
According to the lawsuit, filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Thursday, Catherine Herridge, a D.C.-based homeland security correspondent, filed an internal complaint against the network in 2007. Herridge, 46, claimed "female and black correspondents were given less desirable shifts" in the network and that assignments (including an anchor job) were denied or "taken away from her" due to her sex and age."
The complaint was dismissed by Fox News, and, the EEOC says, the network later attempted to put a no complaint clause in her contract.
When Herridge refused to sign the contract, the lawsuit says, she was forced to work for the network "without the benefit of an employment contract" for the next nine months.
The EEOC is seeking unspecified monetary damages and a court order preventing the network from making similar retaliation against other employees.
