Anysha Panesar - America's Perfect Teen is British

Newly crowned America's Perfect Teen, Anysha Panesar is not even American!

Anysha Panesar, a British girl of Indian origin, won the America's Perfect Teen competition despite the fact that she hails from Wales, UK.

16-year-old Anysha was on a family vacation in Kissimmee, Fla., last month when she entered the teen pageant on a whim.

"I didn't think I would actually win because I'm British, so I thought there was no chance I was going to win an American pageant," Panesar told the London Daily Mail.

Anysha's win has caused a stir among the parents of the American contestants, and they have taken it up with pageant officials.

Pageant founder Michael Galanes says, "Yes, her win caused a bit of a stir because she is, of course, British. But that is perfectly within the rules of the competition and those people are just naysayers. One of the judges told me they liked Anysha because she was a breath of fresh air. She has natural beauty but she isn't afraid to be a bit wild."

Anysha hails from Llangan, Wales and goes to the same elite private school in Cardiff that singer Charlotte Church attended. Last year, Anysha's Moulin Rouge-themed birthday party was so lavish it was featured on MTV's "My Super Sweet 16" reality series. She has already been crowned Miss Teen Wales and won a modeling competition back home.
