Aretha Franklin Son Eddie Franklin Severely Beaten in Detroit

Eddie Franklin, the son of legendary singer Aretha Franklin, is undergoing surgery after being severely beaten at a gas station in Detroit Monday night.

A spokeswoman for the Franklin family said his condition wasn't immediately known and no additional details about the attack were given yet.

The 53-year-old was attacked by two men and a woman - while pumping gas at the intersection of Plymouth and Evergreen Road. A witness describes one of the males to be about six feet tall, with dreadlocks and dark skin complexion. The young woman was described as about 19 years old, with short hair. All three suspects are African-American.
