Angelina Jolie to Direct War Film.

Angelina Jolie will make her debut as a director and a screenwriter for an upcoming film - a romance set during the Bosnian War in the early '90s.

Jolie will also serve as producer on the film. Despite reports, the Oscar-winning star won't be starring in the yet-to-be-titled romantic drama. She plans to cast local actors from "various ethnicities of the former Yugoslavia."

Jolie explains that "the film is a love story, not a political statement. I would like to involve as many local people as possible and learn as much as I can."

Jolie was photographed scouting for locations in Budapest, Hungary over the weekend. She also made a stop in Sarajevo, Bosnia, meeting with leaders there about the plight of war refugees.

She is working on the flick with GK Films, which also produced her upcoming film The Tourist.
