Paris Hilton Detained in South Africa : Report

Paris Hilton was detained in South Africa on Friday for allegedly being in possession of marijuana, reports the Associated Press.

Hilton was detained outside the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, following a World Cup match, according to a local radio station in Johannesburg.

A police spokesperson declined to confirm the name of the person detained, but told the AP it was a high profile person who would appear in court on drug charges.

UPDATE: Paris Hilton's rep tells ET the marijuana case against Hilton in South Africa has been dropped and claims the incident was a big misunderstanding.

"The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made. The authorities have apologized for wrongfully accusing her since she had nothing to do with the incident," Hilton's rep adds.
