Kelly Clarkson : Most Successful Idol Alum
Kelly Clarkson is the most successful "Idol", according to Billboard magazine.
Carrie Underwood, who came in second, may have outsold Clarkson in album sales, but the first-ever "AI" winner is still Idol's biggest star based on a combination of album sales, track sales, and radio plays.
Since winning the title in 2002, Clarkson has sold 10.6 million albums, 15.9 million tracks and has had 4.2 million radio plays.
Chris Daughtry landed in third, while Jordin Sparks and David Cook round out the top five. Other alums of note: Clay Aiken at No. 6, Adam Lambert at No. 12, Hudson at No. 13, Hicks at No. 19 and Allison Iraheta finishing in the bottom slot.
