Lane Bryant Ad Banned : Cacique Lingerie Commercial (Video)

On : 2010 Apr 22

A new ad for Lane Bryant's new lingerie line, featuring a curvy model Ashley Graham, has been banned by ABC, says the plus-size clothing company.

The ad for Cacique - a new line of intimates was supposed to run during ABC's 'Dancing With The Stars' but the network refused to air the spot saying it bared too much cleavage, Lane Bryant claimed.

"The cleavage of the plus-size models, they said, was excessive, and we don't think that's the case. It certainly appears to be discrimination against full-sized women," an insider told The New York Post on Thursday.

A post on Lane Bryant's blog claimed that "ABC and Fox have made the decision to define beauty for you by denying our new, groundbreaking [lingerie] commercial from airing freely on their networks."

Fox eventually agreed to air the commercial but "only after we threatened to pull the ad buy," the post claimed.

The post continues: "Yes, these are the same networks that have scantily-clad housewives so desperate they seduce every man on the block - and don't forget Bart Simpson, who has shown us the moon more often than NASA - all in what they call 'family hour.'"

Is the Lane Bryant commercial too hot for TV? Speak you mind below.

Absolutely nothing wrong w/ these gals.  They are more representative of the female population than the Victoria's secret models.  I guess if you can't see the outline of the internal organs under the skin, you are just not sexy anymore!

What's the difference between that commercial and a Victoria's Secret commercial?? ABC think again..

If ABC's excuse is too much cleavage, then they need to pull any show that has any type of sex scene, such as soap opera's & Desperate Housewives. Sounds like they want to have their cake & eat it too. Um, excuse me, most women now are plus size with curves!

About time we see plus sized women in TV ads.  This shows all women of size to be who you are.  Sexy!

So I guess all those Victoria Secret models, whose commercials are shown 1000 times a day on Fox and ABC, are flat chested and ready thereby for prime time?  PLEASE!!!!!

It's not any worse than what we see every day.  I guess what's offensive is to be plus sized.

Uh, hello??? Dancing With The Stars??? The women are always half naked with tons of cleavage!!! The people at ABC are hypocrites!

I shop at Lane Bryant because Im too curvy to fit into anything at Victorias Secret. But I'm not a plus size girl. It's hard to find lingerie to fit that's sexy when you're thin and curvy.  Lane Bryant finally made it easy for us curvy girls to wear something sexy! This is downright discrimination. Victoria Secret commercials are far worse!
And this is a wonderful ad!

I personally find that there is always something beautiful about every single person I meet.  This commercial is one of the least offensive things I've seen as far as tv viewing goes.  This woman is gorgeous..shame on you abc.
