Kate Gosselin Interview With Natalie Morales VIDEO

TLC reality star mom Kate Gosselin sat down with The Today Show's Natalie Morales for an hour long interview that aired last night.

In the one-hour special, 'Kate: Her Story', the 34-year old mother of eight tells Morales that the strains of her highly publicized breakup is affecting the couple's eight children, and "the kids are starting to show signs of stress and behavioral changes."

"When you look around and very close, trusted people you'd swear on your life would never 'cash you in,' for lack of better word, when people leave your house and tell completely different stories," Kate tells Natalie, "you tend not to trust people."

She said a part of her "always will" love Jon [Gosselin].

"It's hard to be married to somebody for 10 years and try to say, 'No, I don't love them anymore.' I love the memories we have together, the good times."

More excerpts from the interview:

On the possibly exploitative nature of the show: "Coming from a mom who laid on bed rest from the time I found out I was pregnant, from 7 weeks pregnant to 30 weeks, I absolutely would not put anything in my mouth that would harm them, and fought for evey second of their existence, I can tell you that there is nothing that would ever force me to put them in harm's way."

On why she doesn't quit while she's ahead: "We can't turn life off.I can't turn life off. In the last nine, 10 months, it's gotten really crazy and I can't seem to get away from it at this point. My goal in all this is I just want peace for my kids."

So why doesn't she pull the plug on the spotlight? "We're too far gone. Stepping out of the spotlight when it's prudent to do so is a good thing."

On the breakup with Jon: "Whatever happened, it happened so quickly. I think I was on a plane coming back from somewhere and I remember thinking, 'We're not going to recover from this,' " she says. "I looked at him and he looked at me, and we were completely different people. I think somewhere down the line his goals changed ... and they felt detrimental to me and the kids...I still wake up every day and I think the phone will ring and it'll be ... the old Jon."

On the rumor she had an affair with her bodyguard: "So unthinkable to me that to have to think about it makes me sick."
