Richard Heene Arrested in 1997 for L.A. Crime
Richard Heene - the Colorado dad at the center of the Balloon Boy scandal has a criminal record in L.A. and was sentenced to jail, TMZ has learned.
Richard Heene was arrested in April 1997 for misdemeanor vandalism, vehicle tampering and disturbing the peace. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, two years probation and ordered to pay fine of $100.
According to records, Heene spent just 4 days in jail and spent the rest of his sentence on house arrest.
Meanwhile, Heene and his wife Mayumi will be charged by Wednesday for staging the bizarre balloon hoax.
