Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Break Up

Dancing with the Stars' Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have just called off their long-pending nuptials, reports E!

"I am confirming that they did indeed break up," Karina's rep says.

The couple announced their engagement in January this year. Back then Karina told Hollyscoop, "He wants to get married before the end of this year, so far I've gone along with his ideas and they've been good!"

Just a month ago, Karina and Maks revealed they were delaying their wedding until next summer, due to their busy schedules.

"We don't plan," Maks said. "We're [rehearsing] 14 hours a day."

"The only thing we've decided on is next year in June," Karina added. "As long as we're together, tying the knot is a plus. It's something extra."

According to reports, Maksim was the one who pulled the plug on their relationship. He believed that Karina was simply too high maintenance, a source close to the couple told RadarOnline.
