On : 2009 Aug 26

Solomon Jackson Jr, who spent two bucks on a Powerball ticket is now a whole lot richer.

Jackson, a retired South Carolina state employee claimed a $260 million Powerball jackpot for the Aug. 19 drawing.

On Tuesday, Jackson spent the morning mowing the yard of a neighbor before heading to downtown to claim his millions.

"For once in my life, I really experienced the old saying, pinch me to see if I'm still alive, or if this is real," Solomon Jackson Jr. said.

He didn't reveal much about himself or his plans for the money.

"I'm already retired, I've already got a good income, and God has blessed me, so I won't do a bunch with it," Jackson said with a smile. "But somebody's going to be blessed."

Jackson bought the winning ticket at a Columbia gas station after shopping at a nearby Walmart. The ticket matched all the winning numbers for the midweek drawing: 14, 24, 31, 43 and 51. The Powerball was 27 and the multiplier was 5.

Lottery officials say Jackson's chances of winning were one in 195 million. The winner have the option of taking a lump sum payment of $129 million ($88 million after taxes), or annual payments -- $259.9 million paid out in 29 yearly installments.

Mr. Solomon:

I know that GOD has blessed you in order for you to bless others.  Your son needs your help.  Do the right thing and make sure that he has a decent place to live, food, a decent car to drive, and of course some duckets in his pockets.  GOD is watching.  DO the right thing.
