NFL Star Steve McNair Shot Dead, Wife Mechelle Mcnair Safe

Former National Football League quarterback Steve McNair and a woman (not Steve McNair's wife Mechelle McNair) were found dead with gunshot wounds Saturday.

McNair, 36, and the woman were found dead inside a condominium in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. McNair was said to be a frequent visitor to the condominium.

Police said they knew the identity of the woman but did not release her name. Police confirmed she wasn't McNair's wife, Mechelle.

Authorities are still investigating the shootings.

McNair, known as "Air" McNair in a 13-season NFL career, was a former quarterback for the Nashville-based Tennessee Titans.
