SC Gov Mark Sanford Cheated on Jenny Sanford with a Woman in Argentina

South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, who mysteriously disappeared last week admitted Wednesday, that he had been cheating on his wife Jenny Sanford with a woman in Argentina and he'd secretly flown to Argentina to visit his mistress.
 

In an emotional press conference this afternoon, the 49-year-old Republican governor apologized to his staff, his wife and family and said,

“Let me first of all apologize to my wife and my 4 boys.”

“I’ve let down a lot of people, that’s the bottom line.”

“I’ve been unfaithful to my wife.  I developed a relationship with what started out with a dear dear friend from Argentina.”

The two-term governor said he would resign as chairman of the Republican Governor's Association. He did not respond when asked if he would resign as governor. As for his wife Jenny, he said they had been working through this for the last five months. Read more details here.

I am sure there is more to this than meets the eye. I mean, how hard is it to tell a decent lie? Did he really need to make his departure so bizarre?

The whole story leading up to this has been completely unbelievable. The affair doesn't really explain it all away for me.
