Oscar winner Joseph Brooks Charged with Rape

Oscar-winning songwriter Joseph Brooks has been charged with rape and sexual assault, reports the Daily News.
 

The 70-year-old movie director allegedly lured aspiring actresses and models to his home with promises of roles in his movies and sexually assaulted them. Brooks allegedly seduced the women through Craigslist web postings.


He is a suspect in two rapes, a sodomy case and two sexual assaults. He was expected to turn himself over to authorities this morning.
 

Brooks won the Oscar for Best Original Song for the 1977 ballad "You Light Up My Life." He also wrote, directed the 1977 romance flick "You Light Up My Life," and penned the title track.
