Madonna Wins Adoption Appeal for Mercy James
Madonna's adoption appeal for Mercy James was approved early this morning by Malawi's Supreme Court.
"It's the early hours in New York now but my client has been awake all night waiting for this," Madonna's Malawi lawyer, Alan Chinula, told People.
Alan said Madonna was "ecstatic" when she heard the news and said 'Thank heavens.'
It is likely to take three to five days before the paperwork is ready. Preparations are already underway to bring Chifundo "Mercy" James to America via a private jet.
Madge met Mercy at an orphanage she visited two years ago on a previous trip to Malawi. Mercy's 18-year-old mother was unmarried and died soon after she gave birth.
