Chastity Bono - Cher's Daughter to Have Sex Change!

Chastity Bono, the daughter of Oscar-winning actress Cher and the late Sonny Bono is reportedly having a sex reassignment - transitioning from female to male. The 40 year old, known to family and friends as Chaz, came out as a lesbian nearly two decades ago.
 

"Yes, it's true — Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," Bono's rep, confirmed to TMZ.
 

"He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his 'coming out' did nearly 20 years ago.
 

We ask that the media respect Chaz's privacy during this long process as he will not be doing any interviews at this time," the rep added.

Chastity Bono, a civil rights advocate and journalist, began the process earlier this year, shortly after his 40th birthday.
 

Bono had a relationship with "Joan," a woman 20 years her senior in 1992. The relationship ended tragically when the woman lost a battle with lymphoma and died in 1994.
