Nearly 100 million votes were cast and the results are in: Kris Allen is the newest American Idol! Honestly, I didn't see this coming!


The singer/songwriter from Arkansas was announced the eighth American Idol Wednesday in front of screaming fans at L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. The guy with the acoustic guitar and a cute smile defeated the dazzling glam rocker Adam Lambert.
 

A very "shocked" Kris Allen said, “Adam deserves this. I’m sorry, I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy!”
 

The 23-year-old has been married for over seven months. Kris married his longtime girlfriend Katy O'Connell in September 2008. Below, is a photo of Kris Allen's wife Katy O'Connell.

With nearly 100 million votes cast, smooth vocals and boy-next-door Allen turned the theatrical powerhouse Adam Lambert into the most unlikely of also-rans. Do you think Allen deserved to be the winner?
