White Stripes Drummer Meg White to Marry Guitarist Jackson Smith

Meg Smith, the drummer for the Detroit rock band the White Stripes and guitarist Jackson Smith are engaged to be married, reports the Detroit Free Press.


White, 34, and Smith, 27, will tie the knot on May 22 in Nashville. The couple is planning to hold a reception in Detroit soon after the wedding weekend. The rock 'n' roll power couple have been dating since last summer.


Smith is the son of punk rock icon Patti Smith and late MC5 guitarist Fred 'Sonic' Smith. This is the first marriage for Smith. White was previously married to fellow bandmate Jack White from 1996 to 2000.
