Danny Gokey American Idol Video

Danny Gokey, whose wife passed away a month before his “Idol” audition, sang "Hero" by Mariah Carey and impressed the entire judging panel during Tuesday’s episode of American Idol.
 

“The redeemer of the night right here: Danny Gokey! That was blazing hot,” Randy said.
 

“Danny, you’re stellar,” Paula added. “I have two words with hyphens – ‘Sold-Out Arenas!’”
 

Gokey lost his wife Sophia just four weeks before the audition. The 28-year-old church music director from Milwaukee has been recording and working on a foundation - Sophia's Heart Foundation that he set up in his wife Sophia's name. In addition to singing, he plays the piano and loves salsa dancing.
