Kara DioGuardi Engaged to Mike McCuddy

As the eighth season of American Idol premieres tonight, new judge Kara DioGuardi has some big news: She is engaged!

DioGuardi, 38, and Mike McCuddy, 34, were engaged Dec. 8 while on vacation in Mexico, DioGuardi's rep confirms to PEOPLE. "No wedding date has been planned."

McCuddy is a former school teacher-turned-general-contractor and has a son from a previous relationship.

DioGuardi will make her "American Idol" debut on Tuesday night joining the familiar trio of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

Ummm..... Mike doesn't have a son. He has a daughter, I'm not saying names, but SHE is one of my friends, and most certainly not a boy.

Yeah NY Times said he has a daughter..
I'm just wondering how old she is? 'Cause Mike's not that old, but at the same time he could've been a young father right.
I think Kara'd be a nice stepmom.

Anywayz, I hope they'll be very happy together.
