Barack Obama’s Grandmother Dies
Sad news to report - Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama's grandmother died today. The Democratic presidential candidate released a joint statement with his sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng:
"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer. She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility."
Just over a week ago, Mr Obama took a break from campaigning and flew to Hawaii to be with Mrs Dunham.
