RIP Dee Dee Warwick
Soul singer Dee Dee Warwick has passed away in New Jersey Saturday. She was 63.
Warwick, who recorded a few hits in the 1960s, won recognition for both her solo work and her performances with her older sister Dionne Warwick.
Nominated twice for a Grammy, Warwick was a background vocalist for stars including Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett in her early days, reports the Associated Press.
She provided backing vocals to ‘My Music & Me’, a musical based on the life of her sister Dionne, and sang on her gospel album ‘Why We Sing’ which came out at the start of this year.
