Sarah Palin Newsweek Cover Photo

Sarah Palin is on the cover of this month's Newsweek. The picture of the Newsweek Cover with the caption "She's one of the Folks" (And that's the problem) has drawn criticsm because of the deliberate attempt to show the Alaska Governor in a bad light.
Most cover photos are airbrushed or touched up when someone's face is shown that close but Palin cover photo shows all of her facial hair, pores, wrinkles and blemishes.
The issue hits newsstands on Monday.

Sarah Palin (though I am not voting for McCain-Palin) is a beautiful woman as shown on the Newsweek cover. It would be a privilege to be on the cover of a major magazine. She looks fine!

I am a canadian but have been watching the U.S. election fairly closely. I am shocked the American public is uspet with an untouched photo. Hasn't it occured to anyone that it is about time that the public see what they are getting....good or bad. Hasnt the voting public got a "pig in a poke" enough times to realise that maybe the truth is a good thing. I like Sarah Palin and she is a very attractive woman....get over the untouched close up. She sells herself as "one of the folks", so there she is. Have you looked at a photo of Abe lately?? I dont have an issue with Mccain /Palin but feel Mr. Ohbama and Biden deserve their spot in the white house.

To the editors of Newsweek, I support your decision to publish the photo of Sarah Palin. As an American and magazine purchaser, I am so sick and tired of the individuals, who support the McCain/Palin ticket, constantly complaining about the media and other news outlets. Every time something is published or produced that does not meet the "Republican supporters' expectations," we the other citizens of America have to listen to them whine about how unfair their candidates are being treated. Not to mention, they never seem to have a problem with the lack of honesty flowing around within the campaign. I am aware of the lack of honestly within the Obama/
Biden campaign, but at least their campaign advisors are a lot more astute about it.
Signed,
An Independent who will now definitely support the Obama/Biden ticket

As a former supporter of Hillary Clinton, I have seen a fair amount of sexism during her campaign, most coming from Obama's camp.
I am happy to see Sarah Palin at her untouched best. I think it's perfectly in line with the comment on the cover that she's one of the folks.
She is one of the folks, and it drives Obama's people nuts! Anytime Obama's wife is on any of a myriad of covers, she has been retouched to the nth degree, looking like a black Barbie doll.
I say this is a perfect cover of Sarah in all her glory, she is one of the folks, and that's exactly why we're going to vote for her!
Obama, get stuffed, you too, Michelle!

Unbelievable someone would even bring this up. It's NEWSWEEK, not Seventeen. Get a grip.
Yes Meshell.. Palin is just one of the folks, like you. Or that nice lady on the PTA down the street. The perfect preparation for holding the trigger to the largest nuclear (a word which she can't even pronounce, btw) arsenal in history.
If you're not worried enough about the PTA lady holding the very future of the world in the palm of her perfectly manicured hand, remember that she is firmly convinced that she will see Jesus return in her lifetime. And that her pastor - the one she credits for helping her win the govenorship - got his start running a woman out of a Kenyan town for being a WITCH. And 10 years later, he still preaches about witchcraft, even in the very laying on hands ceremony he performed on Sarah.
If you'd vote for your ignorant next door neighbor, then you deserve what you get. But if you don't mind, I'd like to get off your wild ride to insanity.
I was a Hillary supporter as well. Palin is nothing like Hillary. Palin has singlehandedly ensured that it'll be another 30 years before there's a woman on a national ticket again.

The photo doesn't do her justice. Given how nasty her rhetoric has become and her proclivity for inciting racial violence at her rallies, I was thinking something more along the lines of Madame DeFarge, but without the charming French accent and knitting needles.

It's a shame there's so much focus on her appearance, but at least the Newsweek cover engages that issue in a different way.
