Lawsuit Over Marilyn Monroe's "Last Sitting" Nude Photos

On : 2008 Sep 25

In 1962, photographer Bert Stern shot a series of photos of Marilyn Monroe that have come to be known as “The Last Sitting.”

Stern is suing over the iconic nude and seminude pictures of Marilyn Monroe, he says were stolen from him. Manhattan court papers say Stern loaned them to the now-defunct Eros magazine, but they were not returned. He says he wants at least $700,000 for the value of the photographs and $1 million in punitive damages and legal fees.

The famous photographs were taken during several boozy sessions at the Hotel Bel-Air, six week before Monroe was found dead of an apparent barbiturate overdose.

Forty-six years later, Stern revisited his classic shots with Lindsay Lohan for New York Magazine. To see photos of Lindsay Lohan recreating Marilyn Monroe shoot click here.
