Britney Spears opened 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night in LA. Clad in a silver, shimmering flapper dress, the pop princess looked absolutely fabulous! And the star-studded crowd gave her a standing ovation even before she opened her mouth.
"Thank you so much. Thank you for all the love. I'm here tonight to celebrate a very important birthday, the 25th anniversary of the VMAs. This is the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and it starts right now.", said the pop star.

Britney got a second standing ovation after winning her first ever VMA - best female video for her song "Piece Of Me." In her brief thank you speech she thanked God and her two sons whom she said inspire her every day.
