Sarah Palin Speaks to People Magazine About Her Family

People magazine tells more of the story of Sarah Palin and her baby Trig in its upcoming issue. Long before she was launched into vice presidential candidate fame, the magazine sat down with Gov. Sarah Palin to chat about her baby boy Trig.
 

At age 43 and 13 weeks pregnant, Palin had an amniocentesis that indicated her baby had Down Syndrome.A staunch opponent of abortion, Sarah told husband Todd: “The good news is we have a boy. But we have a challenge.” 
 

Todd's response, she tells PEOPLE: "Awesome! I'm getting another boy."

Initially Palin hid her pregnancy from both the public and her children, People says. “Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs ... I couldn’t talk about it.”  She says her qualms were laid to rest “the minute [Trig] was born.” 

“Why didn't you tell us," daughter Willow, 14, said. Palin answered that she wasn't quite sure how to break the news. 

The magazine hits newsstands Friday.
