Britney Spears to Open The 2008 Video Music Awards

Britney Spears will kick off the 2008 Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 7th at 9:00PM (ET/PT) , the network confirmed Wednesday.
 

Although, Britney won't be performing, her VMA return will be something “fun and unexpected.”, says MTV Music Group President Van Toffler.
 

“MTV has long played an important role in my career. " says Britney, "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA's? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”
 

Britney is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

Of course she's going!  I knew she would!  What they should do is have David Elsewhere present, now that guy is entertaining!  Just check out the Motorokr videos to get a glimpse of how awesome he is.
