The Dark Knight Breaks Box Office Records with $155.3 Million

Despite mixed reviews, the sixth Batman movie: The Dark Knight took in a record $155.34 million in its first weekend.
The long awaited sequel to the 2005 film Batman Begins also smashed previous single-day box office records, earning a massive $66.4m on its opening night in the US, surpassing the former record set by Spider-Man III which earned $59.8 million last year.
The number 2 spot was taken by Mamma Mia!, bringing in $27.6 million.
