Another memorable season of American Idol has come to an end. David Cook was crowned the seventh American Idol during the show's star-studded season finale at the Kodak Theater.


David Cook, 25, of Blue Springs,Montana, prevailed over David Archuleta,17, of Murray, Utah, after a triumphant performance Tuesday that wowed the viewers who gave him a majority of the votes cast.

* David Cook, 25, is a Missouri guitarist with a background in musical theater and who formed his own band, Axium, in high school. Working as a bartender while trying to launch his music career, he did not originally plan to try out for "American Idol," but went to auditions to support his brother. Once considered a long shot, Cook has won fans for alternative versions of pop classics, such as Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."
