Ellen DeGeneres And Portia De Rossi Plan To Marry
Now that the California Supreme Court has ruled in favor of gay marriages, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has announced her plans to marry her longtime partner Portia de Rossi. On Friday’s show Ellen said:
I would like to say for the first time, I am announcing that I am getting married. We’re very, very excited. Forgive me for getting emotional. If I’m getting this emotional now, I can’t imagine what it will be like when we get married.”
Former Ally McBeal actress De Rossi, 35, who was in the studio, and DeGeneres, 50, were applauded by audience members with a a standing ovation.
The court ruling which dumps the state's ban on gay marriages said all California couples had a basic civil right to marry without regard to their sexual orientation.
Ellen has said she is "thrilled" at the ruling by the California supreme court to overturn the state's ban on gay marriage.
