While the media were in a frenzy over Lindsay Lohan's DUI case, Nicole Richie quietly checked herself into - and out of - Lynwood jail. According to the website of the LA Sheriff's Department, Richie checked in at 3:15 p.m. and was released at 4:37 p.m. She was assigned to a cell for only 35 minutes. A source at the department said Richie was routinely processed and released according to normal operating rules. The Sheriff's Department released the following statement: "On August 23, 2007, at 3:15 p.m., Miss Nicole Camille Richie reported to CRDF and surrendered herself following a July 27 arrest, she was sentenced to serve 96 hours in county jail.
