The Breast Cancer Research Foundation Annual Spring Gala (titled this year The Hot Pink Party Goes Cool) was hosted by Sheryl Crowe at the Waldorf-Astoria last night. Sheryl who has been ridiculed in the press over the past week since her comments about using 1 piece of toilet paper at a time which she claims was said in jest were picked up by the media. Sheryl, who is herself a breast cancer survivor joked about the incident when her microphone malfunctioned: ”This is more embarrassing than the toilet tissue joke.”
Elton John, Liz Hurley, Vanessa Minnillo, Eva Mendes and Elizabeth Berkely all showed up to lend their support to the cause which funds genetic and clinical research aimed at prevening and curing breast cancer
Liz Hurley always puts this event in her calender and told press: “I look forward to it all year. It’s fabulous to be part of something so successful at fundraising.”
The newly-wed Liz also spoke about life post marriage: “it’s lovely. When I get back (to London) tomorrow, my real married life will begin”
Liz wore a pastel John Galliano wedding dress that she wore in India: “I recycled it immediately.”
Vanessa Minnillo who looked gorgeous inMonique Lhuillier instead of her usual Vegas showgirl type costumes didn’t answer any questions about whether she had moved into Nich Lackey’s Manhatten apartment but did confirm that she won’t be re-signing with MTV’s TRL, “It’s fun to be able to try new things” she said. She already has a new make-up line with Estee Lauder lined up called ‘Flirt’ which she is credited as a guest creator. Of her own make-up routine she said, “less is better” but that Nick “loves it when I get dolled up”
