I got up all bright and early to watch the 2007 Golden Globe Nominations, only to find that they weren’t televised. At least, not all of them. E! was kind enough to air a 30 minute program, making sure that we all got to watch and laugh as Jessica Biel gamely read “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” in full for the picture’s two nominations, one for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) and one for Best Picture! I don’t know why I was so surprised as the nods, as the movie made me laugh my ass off.

Any other surprises? Maggie Gyllenhaal for Best Actress in a Motion Picture (Drama) for Sherrybaby, not because Mags isn’t a great actress, but because I didn’t think anybody saw the indie when it was in theaters. Same goes for Chiwetel Ejiofor, nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for Kinky Boots, which was a pleasure to see.
